Retail Stories: This is why I don't like people...

Today's post will be about rude customers back when I first started retail! This was the beginning of my customer service experience, where I started to realize that people are nothing but a bag of dicks, and that humans are garbage, and belong in the dumpster.

What can I say, retail changes you!
I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not.

¤ These people can never shine bright like a diamond, but they can be as dark as a black hole instead! (Aren't black holes actually orange? idk, not the point!) ¤

"Some People Are Just Stupid!"

○ (My store was opening in a new location, so I was hired alongside a bunch of newbies to open the store)
Back when the store first opened, we had a return line and purchase line that were right next to each other. (Eventually, they just made everything for one line). I was on register, and a woman asked me where the purchase line was. I pointed to where the line was, and so she went AROUND the entire line, instead of walking a few steps over. She proceeded to get mad at me, because she wound up in the same place, but on the other side.  She decided she would go to the cashier next to me and say to the cashier, "Some people are just stupid!". I merely showed her where the line was, she could have went the easy way, and walked a few steps over to the correct line. Like I didn't tell her where to go, I just showed her where the line was. But somehow that was my fault, and I was stupid for it. I always remember this jerk, and it aggravates me. How can people be so dumb, and rude at the same time.
The other cashier rung the lady up rather quickly, so she could get this miserable bag of sticks out of the store.

Terrible Personalities

When the store I work at first opened, I was a greeter for three weeks. Below are two short stories that happened to me.

Customer: *Looks around* This is a s#itty store! I feel bad for you!
I said: I like it?

("I wanted to say, at-least it doesn't have a s#itty personality like you!" Not like they were ever coming back!)

Lazy People!!!!!!1!!!!!]!!!!111

When the store first opened, the carts would lock up at the doors. (They keep changing the rules, sometimes they want them to lock up, sometimes they don't. Corporate can be fickle.)

A customer was angry that the carts don't go out made a rude comment saying that they don't go out because we "The associates" are lazy!

Which was not true, in fact. There was a shopping cart that caused a car accident, and the store got sued for lot's of money (I believe it was 30,000 dollars, but I'm not 100% sure.). That's why the carts didn't go out. I once told this to another person complaining about the carts, and she still thought the carts should go out...
Eventually corporate changed the idea and let the carts go out. Which is funny because that means they wasted their money on buying the devices to lock the carts.

The thing is, there is no cart person, so someone from whichever department will be asked to take time from what they're doing, to wrangle up all of the carts. The carts not going outside was great because we just didn't have to worry about the carts being littered in the parking lot. Also, now the carts disappear, and get damaged, they aren't cheap, that's for sure. One shopping cart sells for about 150$ USD. For ONE.

As of 2019, they have since brought back the carts locking up!

Retail Stories: This is how she threatened me!

I met some interesting people when I was in retail, the following are three very unique people that I worked with for a very short amount of time.

(Due to privacy reasons, I've changed the people's real names, to something goofy.)

  Theresa

Like mother Theresa, but if she was crazy! Theresa had a very lonely vibe to her, and so I felt bad for her. Everyone said she was crazy, but I didn't think so as I hadn't seen it for myself.

Eventually, I found out that hard way that she was as crazy as a pack of crazy glue!

The following are some incidents that occurred.

My first time of realizing she a bag of  nuts, was when I was walking behind the registers. The registers at my particular store are all connected, and have a small space between them and the wall. She was crouched down getting hangers (There was a pole under the register, so you could put empty hangers from customers that didn't want them).
As I was walking past her, my foot accidentally grazed her back. All of a sudden she gets up and she goes "OW! YOU'RE LUCKY YOU'RE LIGHT ON YOUR FEET OR I'D PUNCH YOU!".

I was shocked! She pretty much threatened me! Here I was feeling sorry for her because she seemed lonely, but clearly she was cuckoo bird. After that, I stayed far far away from her.

Another time, I was on the floor, and a customer approached me. The customer said that the lady in the home department had been gone for a while, and wanted to know what happened. She asked Theresa if we had any more of a certain kind of pillow in stock. I go to the back room, and I find Theresa staring at the pillows, just starting at them like she was trying to solve the worlds greatest puzzle! I instantly found the pillow the customer was looking for, Theresa turns to me and goes "Am I an idiot". I didn't say a word, and walked away!

Another time, was not my experience. A supervisor told me that one time a customer wanted to know where the return line was, so the supervisor asked Theresa to show the customer where the return line was. Theresa walks over to the return line, and just waits on line. She doesn't show the customer where it is, she just stood there instead...

The most obnoxious time was when it was Christmas Eve, we were closing early at 8pm and my friends were picking me up so we could hang out. I was a cashier at the time, and Theresa decided to buy like 100 different items at 7:59pm. By the time I was done ringing all of the stuff she wanted, or didn't want. It was like 10-20 minutes later. The manager said, she would have had no problem if Theresa made a purchase earlier right before we closed. By the time I got into my friends car, they just drove me home. My friend's boyfriend at the time was "Tired", and so we couldn't hang out anymore because I got out so late because of Theresa taking her time.
Fortunately my friend is not with him anymore, he was a jerk, and a homophobe.

Thankfully, crazy Theresa was let go with the rest of the seasonal people.

An interesting thing though. I worked in a social service center voluntarily, before retail. One of the ladies I worked with, frequented the store at the time, and was always talking to Theresa. I wonder if Theresa was on public assistance, she was clearly not all there in the head.

Cooky Bookie

Cooky was an eccentric guy, one time the manager (Same manager that made the comment about Theresa deciding to buy the whole store right before we closed.), said that he was harmless, but wouldn't trust his driving skills, and why anyone would give him a license...
Here's why I'm giving him the name, Cooky Bookie.

Cooky enjoyed stealing other people's food from the refrigerator!

For some reason, while in the break room with another woman "Cathy". He would throw chairs at her!

He claimed to be this guy "Mikes", uncle. But he wasn't Mikes uncle, and it would freak Mike out!

Lazy Dazy

Was a tomboy-ish girl that worked in the womens department. The first day or so was fine, and she worked great. Afterwards, she would disappear for hours, and just wouldn't do any work.

A cashier called her to the front to get returns, but she never showed up. She was called for hours upon hours, the manager searched the store but could not find her! Apparently she was "asleep" in the fitting room! The manager said, who knows what she was doing in there, she could have had a guy in there! My at the time Co-worker, Kelly said, I think she's a lesbian! The Manager said, Guy, Girl whoever!! (lol)
Later on, she disappeared again, in the bathroom for a HALF AN HOUR!

Eventually they made her a cashier, which she liked better. But she eventually stopped showing up (Or She quit, I don't remember.) Months after she left, Dazy, at one point tried to get her job back, but the managers were not going to let someone like her work there again.

Toxic Communities: Let Them Go

The internet is a great place where people can talk to others, learn about new things, see pictures of the world, talk about Marcy and her questionable fashion choices.... The list goes on!

However, the internet is not all sunshine & rainbows. Plenty of sites on the internet can be a toxic place to go to, and these places are filled with nasty comments, trolls, and that moldy three month old bagel you left in the refrigerator!

One particular site, I will not name, is a popular meme sharing site. Unfortunately, the kinds of people that flood the comments are absolutely vile. The comments on the site are littered with sexism, racism, homophobia, and anything else you could think of.

You could make a very harmless comment about the sun shining on your shoulders, and you bet your bottom dollar that someone will respond with a nasty comment.

It's almost like these people get off on being rude to one another

I noticed one person responding to one of these negative comments, this is what I said to them.

"Hey there! I've seen a couple of your comments! I 100% agree with what you're saying, but I think it's best to not bother with these idiots, "Site name" is filled with vicious people who are disgustingly racist, sexist, homophobic and other things. I used to get mad at these people too, so much so that I quit the site for a year. The negativity bothered me so much that I left! My friend said that I should come back because it still has funny stuff. I decided not to worry about the haters, the nasty people, etc.. They'll never amount to anything! So I don't bother with the comments because it would wear me down, I usually take a peak, but don't really comment because that's when the hurdles of D-BAGS come in. What I'm trying to say is not to let them get to you, and just pay no mind to them, that's what I did, and it's better to enjoy yourself without these losers being negative. I'm sure there are better, more friendly communities out there."

What I've learned from the negativity from people on the internet is, that there's really nothing you can do about it. Trying to change their mind will most likely not work. You have to do what's best for you and just move on, find people that are on the same wavelength as you. Enjoy the things you like to do, and pay no mind to the haters.

As I said these people are just losers, and they won't amount to anything. They're probably unemployed, eat junk food all day, have no friends and live in their moms basement anyway...

The best thing you can do with a toxic community is, either leave, or do not bother with the comments. Sites like that, where they offer something, is easy to ignore comments all together. A site where the only function is to talk to other people, such as a forum. Is best to leave if they're a toxic community.

Sometimes you have to let it go, and move on, you're better than that! Unless you're like really vengeful, and want to find their home address and just shock them with a cattle prod... But the best thing to do is move on, find more interesting people to talk to on the internet!

Vampire Holmes

I really like how I made the bats in this banner. I'll have to use this trick again sometime!

Vampire Holmes is a very quirky little short series anime, that only I liked, and watched. There is no one else in the world who has watched this anime, except me.. Also, the intro theme is catchy, and fun!

There are good, funny, random anime's like Bobobo or Strange+. Vampire Holmes would fit that bill, especially since no one liked Strange+, or Bobobo, except for me. (Actually, not true, my brother likes Bobobo as well)
Vampire Holmes kind of random is so random, that I just don't even know what's going on! It's just like, "Huh? What? Huh?"...
The anime refuses to make much sense, there is however a two-parter from episodes 6-7.. Which I thought was surprising.

I think the animation is good, apparently everyone hates it, but I have no problem with it. The ending scene for each episode has this beautifully done background of the galaxy, which I think is so pretty!

The music is good, they have this cool song called "Everlasting Love" by Nami Tamaki, which I wish was longer... because it's actually pretty good!

The characters I find are likable, except they aren't very fleshed out due to it being such a short anime! I would love to see what they could actually do with the characters, but no such luck!

The main focus, I find is they made this to advertise their game of the same name. I checked it up on the app store, and the reviews for the game are actually good. (Despite it only being two reviews, don't judge me...) It does make me want to check the game out, but it's not in English, so not much luck. It just makes me wonder if the characters are this silly in the actual game!

(The game is for IOS & Android.)

My verdict is, I've seen anime's that bored me to death, this anime is not one of them.. Vampire Holmes is just "whatever" to me, so I don't mind it, but I'm not "OmG tHiS iS tHe BeSt AnImE eVeR" Either.

Two more things..

1. The weird thing, the main character's name is Vampire Holmes, and yet there is no reference of him being a Vampire. I assume it's an in-game only thing, but still kind of strange.

2. One of the things I did like, is that there is a very SLIGHT homo-erotic undertone, it really only appeared once or twice, but I thought that was interesting. Quick! To the YAOI Mobile!!

Retail Stories: What cuckoo juice were they drinking?

I'm going to start a new segment on this blog, although it'll probably only last for as long as I am in retail, unless I get stories from friends and stuff...

Retail Stories will be about all of the crazy stuff that I've heard about, or have witnessed in the store that I work at.I can't give a name of the company, but I can say that it's similar to Marshals. (And no, it's not Marshals, I wouldn't be caught in a marshals! Rude! :P jk)

As per post, I'll list stories of a specific genre. I'll list a few times I had to deal with jerks, or maybe crazy people, or that one time when I found a mug filled with pee! (True Story). I'll keep them in the same genre, so you can laugh your ass off, disgust yourself in humanity or get mad (Don't get mad, get glad!!!!).
I'll be linking any stories I've written on this blog in the past under "Retail Stories", so click retail Stories, or check the retail stories tag below for any other previous stories that I've written about.

Okay, so most of the stories for today will be short and recent for the most part! (The first is an oldie, but the second and last are from the last few weeks of the date posted.)

I'mma Psychic, Woooooo *Wiggles Fingers*

One time around last year, one of the ladies that used to work with me in my department told me about this one elderly woman. She was hunched down because she had a crippling back. (Like the hunchback of Notre Dame) The lady turned to my co-worker and told her, "The Luggage has psychic!". That was all she said, the luggage had psychic! She didn't clarify what she meant, or how she meant it, just that it had psychic!

Although this is probably a sad story, since clearly the woman has some sort of problem. It's still a strange thing to happen!

Take your pants off!

This male customer decided to take his pants off, for the whole world to see, so he could try clothes in broad daylight. He was sitting on a bench by the shoe department, he didn't even try to go into the fitting room! This guy was asking every employee where his pants were, because he lost them! His pants had his wallet, phone, and keys. He was obnoxious about it, and the supervisor and the security guy were helping him look for them. The Supervisor asked him where he started, he said by the shoes. She says, are those your pants right there on the top shelf of the shoe rack? He was like, those are my pants!

They were right where he left them!

This nut job took his pants off, and left them on the rack, and forgot about them!! If he had went into a fitting room like a normal person, he would not have lost his pants in the first place! Is this not public indecency or something??
He also had a little girl with him, and she peed her pants because she had to go to the bathroom, and he wouldn't let her! He decided to throw the wet pants on the shoe bench. What a lovely individual!

This guy is a really big nut, not only was he rude enough to not go into a fitting room. He was being indecent, by being partially naked. He left his important items lying around, just for a thief to snatch them. He was getting rude with associates, because HE misplaced his pants with important items. To top it all off, he's a terrible dad for not letting his kid go to the bathroom! If he was afraid to bring his daughter into the fitting room, he could have asked. They would have allowed her to go in with him.

Crazy Bird Lady!

My friend Tina was telling me about this crazy bird lady from two Saturdays ago...
(Currently, we have a problem where birds keep getting into the store. Some of them eventually find their way, while others are stuck inside forever. But then a new one comes in somehow.)
This lady approached her, and was freaking out because there were birds in the store! She said, "How can you work in a place like this, aren't you afraid of birds?! You not only have to worry about kids popping out, but birds attacking you!! I've gotta get out of here!"

Tina said she was very crazy, and very funny!
