Vampire Holmes

I really like how I made the bats in this banner. I'll have to use this trick again sometime!

Vampire Holmes is a very quirky little short series anime, that only I liked, and watched. There is no one else in the world who has watched this anime, except me.. Also, the intro theme is catchy, and fun!

There are good, funny, random anime's like Bobobo or Strange+. Vampire Holmes would fit that bill, especially since no one liked Strange+, or Bobobo, except for me. (Actually, not true, my brother likes Bobobo as well)
Vampire Holmes kind of random is so random, that I just don't even know what's going on! It's just like, "Huh? What? Huh?"...
The anime refuses to make much sense, there is however a two-parter from episodes 6-7.. Which I thought was surprising.

I think the animation is good, apparently everyone hates it, but I have no problem with it. The ending scene for each episode has this beautifully done background of the galaxy, which I think is so pretty!

The music is good, they have this cool song called "Everlasting Love" by Nami Tamaki, which I wish was longer... because it's actually pretty good!

The characters I find are likable, except they aren't very fleshed out due to it being such a short anime! I would love to see what they could actually do with the characters, but no such luck!

The main focus, I find is they made this to advertise their game of the same name. I checked it up on the app store, and the reviews for the game are actually good. (Despite it only being two reviews, don't judge me...) It does make me want to check the game out, but it's not in English, so not much luck. It just makes me wonder if the characters are this silly in the actual game!

(The game is for IOS & Android.)

My verdict is, I've seen anime's that bored me to death, this anime is not one of them.. Vampire Holmes is just "whatever" to me, so I don't mind it, but I'm not "OmG tHiS iS tHe BeSt AnImE eVeR" Either.

Two more things..

1. The weird thing, the main character's name is Vampire Holmes, and yet there is no reference of him being a Vampire. I assume it's an in-game only thing, but still kind of strange.

2. One of the things I did like, is that there is a very SLIGHT homo-erotic undertone, it really only appeared once or twice, but I thought that was interesting. Quick! To the YAOI Mobile!!

Carly Rae Jepsen

I've been crushing on someone for over a month, and because of that, I have been heavily listening to songs by Carly Rae Jepsen! I've always been a fan of her songs since "Call Me Maybe", but what I think people don't realize, is that she has a bunch of other amazing songs! Including her recent hit "I really Like you".
Below I've compiled a list of songs that I love listening to, but also in the order of crushing on someone. So if you like someone, just listen to her songs in this order, it escalates. It just makes you feel good about yourself!

Call me maybe is about meeting someone for the first time, so that's why it's first on the list!

This song is one of her recent songs (If you're reading this 10 years from now, then it's not.. but I digress) and it's all about having a crush on someone and has the perfect responses to every possibility of liking someone (Do they like you back, is this going too far? Etc).

Hurt so good relates to really liking someone and it just hurts so good.

Sweetie is about liking someone but also talks about offering what you could do for them.

Drive is about driving someone to love.

This kiss, is self explanatory.

I feel that this is a great checklist for Carly Rae Jepsen songs to listen to when you like someone.

Also, don't forget to check out my friend's Campaign.

Shamir

Shamir is a newer singer that is getting their songs out there! With two songs in particular that both have a million views!
Shamir, although is male, refers to themselves as having no gender, no sexuality, and "no fucks to give".

Shamir is definitely making way into the music world with two songs on youtube, both equally have a million views; the latest "Call it Off" and "On the Regular".
Shamir has a very interesting music style, with a mix between Funk, Pop, R & B and more! Shamir is coming off different and making a name for himself.

Shamir has some other songs if you want to check those out too! I personally love "Head in the Clouds", and "Demon". His EP, and Album "Ratchet", are amazing, and I love them.

EDIT: As of 2018, Shamir is no longer with their recording company, and has done a different kind of music since then. I'm not a fan of their new music, but hey, what's important is to make yourself happy!

EDIT from 2021: Shamir got with a new recording company and is releasing new music that I am enjoying, not as much as the iconic Ratchet, but it's still good! I'm excited for their latest Album releasing in February, called Heterosexuality.

What to do when someone is constantly on your mind?

"Carly Rae Jepsen"

"What does it mean when someone is on your mind all of the time?"

To give consistent spiritual encouragement even though the person is not in your presence.
Question and response credited to the users on Answers.com. Link

So as of late, someone I recently met, that I really like has been on mind, to the point that it gets really annoying and I'm just like STAHP! Let me think normally for a moment! The interesting thing is, I think the feeling is mutual (Spoiler alert from 2018: It wasn't mutual), so I'll see where that goes. In the mean time, it's also been a time for me to replay some really good love song esque music, like Carly Rae Jepsens new song "I really really like you" or Little Mix's "Move".

So, what do you do when and if this happens to you?

• I think the first thing to do is, accept it. You have to accept and embrace that you like this person, because if you don't, it will just tear you up inside! As would many things if you do not accept your own feelings.

• I found that thinking about someone you really like is very distracting! No, this person is not going to go away easily.

¤  If you want to forget about them entirely, you can, it just takes some time and effort. You just have to block them out of your mind, and not being around them will also help. The more you're away from someone, over time your brain remembers them less and less (This applies to more than a person, places, items.. Tv shows etc...)

¤ I find that when I really like someone, I can't get them out of my head! It gets really distracting, and I procrastinate all the time thinking about them! If you don't want to forget about them completely, and become productive again, you can, it's kind of like turning off a light switch. Turn the light switch off, and put 100% focus on whatever it is you want to focus. You have to block the person out of your mind sometimes, especially if you literally can not even think.

• Don't forget to see how you see the person in your mind, are they just there? Or do you see an actual relationship with them? This could be a crucial part, sometimes it's best to walk away, and other times it's good to see what can happen!

• Make sure to not get too obsessed over this person in an unhealthy way, and always remember, things don't always work like fairy tales. If they don't like you, do your best to move on!

• Don't get carried away, especially if you haven't actually communicated with this person at all. There will be no wedding bell thoughts at all, until you get to know them better!

• If you will see them again, make sure to talk to them, get to know them better. See if they like you back. Flirting shouldn't be one side thing, flirt with them back! Make sure they know you're interested too. (If you don't know how to flirt, there are plenty of resources online, I like "wiki how".)

Well that's my advice, I currently have this happening to me, and some of what I said above is what I am dealing with. Some is just advice that I think is pretty simple to follow, but not all of it applies to me. For me, I believe the flirt game is strong with this one, but I feel bad because I haven't really flirted back, so I hope they don't think I'm not interested! (Edit from 2019. Boy, was 2015 me delusional. He wasn't flirting with you, knucklehead! He was just a nice guy, and you're not used to overly friendly straight guys! He was IN MY FACE CONSTANTLY, but apparently was straight, and had a girlfriend.)
But I met this person 11 days ago (Edit from 2018 me: Should I be concerned that 2015 me had to specifically list how many days it's been?) and I am constantly thinking about them, it's sometimes hard to concentrate actually. The annoying thing is that I can only possibly see this person twice a week at the moment, so I can't see them more in order to get to know them quicker. (I worked with them, and they were only there on Wednesdays and Sundays, hence only seeing them twice a week, ironically, I usually had Sundays off)

But here's a song by Little Mix! XD

"Little Mix"

( EDIT: 2018 Me: I'm two crushes past this crush, but it's interesting to look into the past! )

Throwback Thursday post 4

Let's use this TBT to think about our childhood.. was it good, was it bad?
I would say mine was not the best, until I started playing video games and watching anime.. Video games and Anime actually turned my life around.

Also last week when I wrote about how obsessed I got with a Portuguese soap Opera.
If you want to see the post, check this link.

The video of the day is Nelly Furtado's "Fly like a bird" I always loved this song when it came on the radio back in 2000.

Kiss of The Scorpion

Kiss of the Scorpion, or "O Beijo do EscorpiĆ£o" as it's called in Portuguese.  Is a Portuguese soap opera that stars a woman named Rita, who finds out she has a long lost sister named Alice (Which is pronounced Al-eese), Alice seems like a nice girl, but there's more to her than her fake smiles.

I'd like to redirect to the thing that got me interested in the show, particularly a gay couple in it. I've only watched the gay storyline, but I was thinking of watching the whole series.. but it looks like the gay couple is the only part that's actually in english subtitles.  What can I say, everyone loves the gays!

I can try youtube subtitles, but sometimes they come out weird. For example, if a character  says "Let's go out to eat", the subtitles will say "Let's go and racetrack on shuffle" and I'm like, well that doesn't make sense...
Although I find some other characters boring, I do find some other characters interesting aside from the two guys. That, and it gets confusing at certain parts because people get mentioned that you don't know, it'll be like this person dies, and I'm like.. who is that.. do I know her.. was she nice?

Anyways...............

I was following the story of Paulo and Miguel. Paulo and Miguel are best friends who also happen to pilot, and co-pilot private planes as their job. Paulo is gay, and he is closeted to most people except for a few people, such as his sister Teresa, or his friend with benefits, Leo. Despite being his best friend, Miguel has no idea Paulo is gay, and that's because Miguel is a homophobe! To add more wood to the fire, Paulo's boss hates gay, people and WILL fire anyone who is gay. So Paulo not only has to keep his sexuality a secret from his best friend, but also his boss and everyone that works there!

Miguel is played by Duarte Gomes, and Paulo is played by Pedro Carvalho.

I'm going to write a basic run down as to what happens in Paulo and Miguel's storyline, I'm going to avoid spoilers, and I'll try to make things vague if needed, except for the obvious fact that Paulo and Miguel end up together... If you didn't think that was where it was going, well it was....

First I'll tell you about Paulo and Miguel's personality,

Paulo is very sweet, very serious and kind.

Miguel is very energetic, party boy, and a womanizer.

Miguel and Paulo's storyline is very well written in a serious manner, Miguel goes through a whole lot of changing throughout the entire show, he reacts very much like other people could in his situation. The show also tackles some problems that LGBT people face, like homophobia, not being able to donate blood because of your sexuality. The writers knew their facts, and it's interesting to see a show that has real aspects, where as other shows may just focus solely on romance or where everyone, and their mother is gay.

A few episodes into their storyline, Paulo and Miguel get incredibly drunk. They end up at Paulo's house, and fall on Paulo's couch. One thing leads to another, and they end up sleeping together!

Paulo tells Miguel he slept on the couch to avoid Miguel's homophobia.

After a comment Miguel makes about being worried about Paulo's "Gaze", the look on Paulo's face just tells you, you know the boy wants that booty again so bad..

Miguel leaves the house not knowing what happened, and Paulo is safe for the mean time. Paulo's sister Teresa, says that Miguel is going to get his memories back eventually and realize what happened that night when they were drunk!
Teresa points out something very important to Paulo, if Miguel is straight, he would NOT have reciprocated kissing Paulo, and sleeping with him. She thinks there has to be more to it! He would have been like, no thanks! So there is definitely more than beats the eye, eventually Paulo realizes there is more to Miguel's sexuality than he thinks.
When Miguel does remember everything, he is fuming. Paulo and Miguel get into a fight and Miguel puts it upon himself to make Paulo's life miserable!
Paulo reveals to Teresa that he has been in love with Miguel for years, which is also why he would not commit to his friend Leo, and only fooled around with him.
Miguel absolutely hates Paulo for quite a while, Miguel becomes a very hate-able character. He is out to get Paulo, and he even tries outing Paulo to his boss so he can get fired, but if he does, Paulo would do the same to Miguel because they did sleep together after all!
Thanks to Paulo's friend Marta, he does not get outed the few times, Miguel tries to out Paulo to his boss. Marta acts as a beard for Paulo in times of need, which pisses Miguel off, but also makes Miguel incredibly jealous too!
Near the end of the feud, Miguel does start to question his sexuality, but he doesn't understand right away because he's always been into women. But when Paulo's plane crashes, he is presumed dead, Miguel finally realizes his feelings when his hatred for Paulo turns into love.
Miguel talks to a therapist about his sexuality and his other problems, after Paulo is "dead" he comes to the therapist again.

Therapist (Afonso): I wasn't expecting you here..
Did something happen?
Miguel: Yes...
Everything happens, lately...
And this time, I may have lost the only person I truly fell in love with..
and I don't.. I don't know how I will keep on living after this.

But just how it is in most shows, Paulo is not actually dead, and the story goes on. Miguel is very relived to get a phone call that Paulo is fine, except for a few minor scratches.
When Miguel and Paulo meet after everyone thought Paulo was dead, they have a very cute reunion and eventually leads to something else....

When they're starting to get jiggy with it, they get cockblocked I mean "interrupted"  by Paulo's friend Marta.
They tell Marta that they're together now, and Marta brings a good point. How are they going to keep working at the private jet company if they have recognized their feelings for each other, there will always be some sort of romantic lighting for the two of them. Even if they're together, and Miguel has changed, their boss is still a homophobe who will fire people if they're gay.
When they go back to their job for just a conversation with their boss about the plane crash, they decide once they leave to have some fun in a hotel. There's a very cute scene and they become flirty little school girls, they say some really adorable things at the hotel.

Miguel (To Paulo): And that my life without you doesn't make any sense...

So cute, I can't even..

But, there's just one problem..... there was a spy who overheard their talk about being in a relationship!
Their boss stalks them, and finds their hotel room! He barges into their room when they're getting into robes, and getting all cute! Their boss disguises himself as a waiter knocking on the door, Miguel thinks that it must be the Champagne. But instead comes in the boss, screaming and yelling, telling them they are fired, and he doesn't want "Fairies" working for his company.

After the cuckoo bird is gone, Miguel says a line that both guys repeat throughout the rest of the show, which is very cute.

Miguel: Together, we can face the world!

The guys are out of a job, which I thought would happen from the beginning, they just put so much emphasis on the possibility of Paulo losing his job because of his sexuality. I thought there would be more to it....
Miguel is really upset, so Paolo makes breakfast in bed for him, which Miguel doesn't understand because him liking a guy is still new to him, and no one's ever done that for him before.

You have to understand that Paulo is pretty much the perfect guy, and Miguel is very lucky!

Both Paulo, and Miguel are worried about the fact that not only are they out of a job, but they're both out of their dream job. They have to figure out something, and they both say, as long as they're together they can do anything! They still get into silly arguments, and Miguel is still trying to figure out whats what with himself, and his sexuality.vHe doesn't think he's gay, but he does love Paulo. Basically, Miguel's sexuality is Paulo, and I'd make a meme out of that if I wasn't so lazy.
A couple of cute scenes and episodes later, the boys find out about a diving store that's closing soon. The money they made from working at the airlines is actually enough to buy the store and remake it as their own!
They quickly become the new owners of the store and they get some of the young adults they know to help them out in the store, two including Paulo's niece, and Miguel's nephew.
In this show Miguel, and Paulo's sides of the family all know each other and it's funny because the two guys end up together, which connects the family even more.
Miguel is a little bit surprised when a woman from a neighboring store already knows that Paulo and Miguel are a couple, and he has a revelation that people are eventually going to know the two guys are together. But the woman is happy that a young happy couple takes over the store to give it new life, and Miguel just has to come with terms that other people will know he's with a guy.

There's a little bit more fluff, but also a little bit more of Miguel understanding who he is.
As the show winds down, the two eventually get married and have a cute wedding ceremony in an airport.. of course!

Overall

I really enjoyed the show, at least Paulo and Miguel's arc, I am still interested in seeing the whole thing though. (2019 me here, I never got to it, and since it's been so long since I saw it, I've lost interest in the rest of the series. lol)
I'm still fangirling over the show too, I didn't get over it yet and I didn't want to start anything new until I finished this blog post!
I do find that I set myself up for the show, I thought it was going to go a completely different way than it did. So I had expectations that never happened, which made me realize I should go into tv shows without any expectations because that just leads to failure, what really happens and what you thought would happen are two different things.
I do feel like the feud between Paulo and Miguel went on far too long, it went as long as about 12 episodes 34 episodes of the Paulo and Miguel arc. So half of the time they were fighting, and Miguel hated Paulo, but I feel like there should have been more loving. I think Miguel should have gotten over himself sooner, because then him hating Paulo started to get old and dragged on... and then we didn't get enough episodes of them in love; because by then it was almost over.
I feel like Miguel went through three stages in the show, and they can be explained all by a few words each.
The first part of show (Episodes 1-10): Energetic Partyboy
The second part of the show (Episodes 11-21): Giant douche-bag.. whosalsoprobablysecretlyjealousthatawomaniswrappedaroundthearmsofHISMAN!!!
The last parts of the show (Episodes 22-34): Calm, confused, but in love.
One of the interesting things about the show was how Miguel changed throughout the series, it's really interesting to see the kind of character development that he went through. He became a different person each time, just always changing.

I watched an interview by the actors who played Paulo and Miguel, surprisingly enough, the actor who played Miguel was more open minded about the experience, than the Paulo's actor.

If you'd like to see the whole series with English subtitles, check out this youtube channel that has them all!
There's even a behind the scenes videos where the actors go into the show a little bit more!

Also, check out one of the songs that plays on the show.. I don't know if it's Paulo and Miguel's theme song, or if it plays throughout the entire show... but it's awesome and it just always reminds me of the two now!

If you like the song, it's on Itunes!
The title is
Qualquer dia

My top 12 Suikoden series town themes

The following are my favorite town themes in the Suikoden series. They are in no particular order, except for the first two songs.

The first is Rock Rockland from the first game, this is one of my all time favorite songs. It plays in a few towns in the beginning of the game. It first appears when entering the town of Rockland, but also plays in two other towns Lenankamp, and Sarady. There was even an official remix made of this song, and it's AWESOME.

The second is called "Scenery By the Windmills", it plays in the town of "Estrise", and is also my favorite town theme of the Suikoden series and appears in the fifth game.

The rest do not follow any order, but I made sure to get a song from every game, except for Suikoden Tumugareshi, as I have not played that one, and I don't know the town themes.

The next one is "People of Great Pride" from the first Suikoden. It's the theme that plays when you go to the town of the dwarf people, I find that this theme, is just very powerful, and just walking around the town with this theme on is just simply magical.

The next theme is in continuation of the previous theme, in Suikoden V we get to see dwarves again and the town has a great theme just as in the first game. The title is "The People Underground".

Let's move on to a theme from the fourth game, the town is called Middleport and it is my favorite town in the game, and it has a nice theme too. Since Suikoden IV takes place on a bunch of islands, it has a water theme to it. The theme is called "Orange colored Scenery", even though the entire town is made out of stone and is gray.

The next song is a song that took me forever to like.  I mean forever.. I first played Suikoden II, when I was 9, and I only recently started to like this song when I was 23! lol.
It's from the town called South Window, the song is called "Nahala Yam Koong", it's different, but it's awesome!

Following Suikoden II, we have the hero's home town. Kyaro, the theme is called "Homesickness". It's a very powerful song if you have played through the whole game, but even if you haven't, I am sure it's still very powerful anyways.

We're now going to go to city type themes, and start off with the theme from the first game, the home town of the hero Tir Greminster. The song is titled "Beautiful Golden City".

The next one is from the third game, and plays when in the town of "Vinay Del Zexay".

The next is a two-parter, as they are both from Suikoden V. They play back to back in the same town, one song plays when you're in the castle, and the second song plays when you're in the town.

The first is "Imperial Capital".

The second is "Power like the Sun".

The last song is from Suikoden Tierkreis, and it is actually similar to the two Suikoden V songs above. It's when in the town of Janamu Sorcery.

And that is my list of the top 12 Suikoden town themes!

Throwback Thursday! Post One.

Okay, so I am probably going to start making a blog post every Thursday, instead of any day of the week. This is for two reasons. 1. I work in retail, and get Thursdays off the most (I haven't worked a Thursday for three months!) 2. I forgot the second reason, but reason 1 was good enough imo.

Today I am going to do a Throwback Thursday because, I don't have material for this week, and it's already 11 PM.

I do have 7 drafts however, I figure it's easier to edit a post each day, than to just take an hour to make it (For the bigger ones it takes an hour, this post is like 5 minutes).
If curious, I have the following titles I am working on in my drafts folder on the blog.
Must Play: Kya Dark Lineage, Must Play: Chrono Cross, Why I don't like Politics, What I think about Guns, The Many times I was verbally harassed in retail, Teen Wolf is the new Supernatural and Idiots are Everywhere. The last one I will be posting next week. These titles will be posts in the future, just as long as I am not eaten by the deadly zombie potato monster that is hiding under my bed!

So, for Throwback Thursday. I was reminded about my old friends, back when I used to live near New York City. I had my cousin, and two other people, my one friend was the only girl in the group, and I had known for a while that she moved to Florida (Which is now pronounced Flow-Rye-Duuuh, FYI :P
If you don't get the reference, just watch the video on youtube titled Awkward by Miles Jai, which I did post on this blog.)
But, it's so amazing how time flies, and how you knew people, and they aren't in your life anymore, but there is still a string that still attaches you to them. You haven't lost them completely, and you want to hold onto that string, and never let go! I was surprised to find out that she is bi and has a girlfriend, I was like... how did I not know this?

Here is Throwback Thursday's video of the day. This is a video by Venetian Princess that I originally saw in 2009. It's a Taylor Swift Parody titled : Just a Zombie.

Girl groups

So, if you're a 90's kid like me, or if you were of some age during the 90's, you probably know of the Spice Girls! Possibly the most known girl group in the entire world!
I was a huge fan back in the day! And I just got back into them again. I've realized I only knew their song "Wannabe", but since I got into them again.. I've been listening to many of their songs, as well as solo songs once they broke up.
I got into songs such as "Stop", and "Spice up your life", and I am finding that many of their songs are AMAZING! I am very happy to get back into them!
Scary spice was my favorite back in the day, and she still is! I actually didn't pay attention to the other girls before, but I am now and each girl is very interesting. They all have a very different personality, and style of singing, so it's really cool to listen to them. Sporty has the high pitched voice like Karen Walker on Will & Grace, Scary has a tough voice, Baby has a soft voice, Ginger is just ginger and Posh has this kind of Secret agent voice lol.

But I am really getting into them again and it's really fun, and I've also gotten out an old book. I have Spice Girl stickers from when they were big!
I find that Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham) Looks kind of like Wendie Malick, who also plays a Victoria on Hot In Cleveland. I also think that Ginger Spice (Geri Haliwell) looks like Debra Messing.

After getting back into the spice girls, I heard about a group called "Little Mix", which is apparently the new spice girls, and I can see why. They're pretty amazing too! Check out their song called Move.
